Grief is a universal experience, yet it often feels isolating. In this two-hour workshop, Grips of Grief, we will honour the journey of loss through the wisdom of the body. Together, we’ll move through yoga practices that embody the five stages of grief—denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance—allowing space for what lives within us to surface, be witnessed, and begin to soften.
Through grounding postures, fiery releases, deep stretches, restorative shapes, and quiet stillness, we’ll explore how movement and breath can help us sit with and shift through the complex emotions of loss. We will close with a reflective group exercise designed to deepen compassion for others’ grief while also creating room to release some of what we ourselves are carrying.
This workshop will be guided by Isabelle Abergel who has walked through life-altering grief and continues to integrate it through the practices of yoga, mindfulness, and compassionate presence. You are invited into this space just as you are—whether your grief is fresh or long-held, sharp or quiet, named or unspoken.
All levels welcome, please bring a journal, pen, and a bottle of water.
